Big Ambitions Security Guide: Panels, Cameras, Guards

Security in Big Ambitions protects stock from theft: add a security sign, panels at the entrance, cameras over shelves and trained guards for high-value goods.

Security is a store mechanic in Big Ambitions that decides how much of your stock gets stolen. A low security score means theft, and you can see exactly how much money each business lost through the EconoView app — theft is listed under ongoing expenses for that store.

Check your security rating

Open the store in the BizMan app to view its current security rating. The store needs to be open for the analysis to be accurate, so check during business hours rather than at night. If theft losses keep appearing in EconoView, it is time to add security layers.

Security panels

A pair of security panels should be placed at the entrance of your store. They provide a low level of security on their own, which is enough for smaller stores carrying lower-value inventory. For a starter shop, panels plus a sign may be all you need.

Security cameras

Wall-mounted and ceiling-mounted security cameras cover items within their visibility range. Merchandise in view of a camera has a very low chance of being stolen, even if the building is below 100% security. Larger stores with more valuable inventory may need a combination of cameras and entrance panels.

Security guards

A security guard must be assigned to a security guard locker through the store's schedule, like any other staffed role. Stores with the most valuable inventory — jewelry, electronics and clothing stores in particular — may need two fully trained guards on shift to keep merchandise completely protected.

What to combine, and when

In practice the layers stack: a security sign at the door, panels at the entrance, cameras over the shelves, and guards for high-ticket goods. Retail businesses with expensive products are the ones that need the full stack, since theft scales with what you display. As a rule of thumb from the community wiki: small store with cheap stock → sign and panels; big store with valuables → cameras plus guards.
