Big Ambitions Guide: 10 Tips to Scale Your Empire

This Big Ambitions guide collects the tips veteran players actually use: 24/7 opening hours, HR training loops, building capacity, loans and HQ timing.

The fastest way to grow in Big Ambitions is not working harder — it is opening longer, training staff through HR, and letting a headquarters automate the busywork. The tips below come from Steam Community threads by long-running players (including a day-200 save earning ~$500K/day) and popular YouTube guides, so every number here was actually played, not invented.

Open your stores 24/7

Rent is charged daily whether you are open or not, so limited hours are wasted rent. Once you are settled with two or three businesses, switch stores to seven days a week, 24 hours a day to maximize total daily visits. The extra staffing cost is minimal in the overall picture compared to the visits you gain.

Human Resources trains your staff for free

An HR officer does two jobs: they replace employees who call in sick, and at maximum skill they passively train up to 25 other employees in their primary skill every single day. That replaces $300/day training seminars, and HR reps can even train each other. Veterans run ten HR reps and call it "a blessing" — it is the single biggest time and money saver in the mid game.

Understand building capacity

The Insight screen is the only thing that matters for how well a business is doing; the customers walking around inside are just visual fluff. Every building has a maximum number of people it can serve, and each piece of equipment adds capacity toward that maximum — for example a burger grill serves 20 people per hour. If equipment shows a yellow dot instead of green, your customer capacity is reduced, and you are "only as good as your weakest link". Also note the regular cash register covers 20 customers while the big checkout counter covers 30.

Skip the small wholesaler, use delivery contracts

The tutorial sends you to a small wholesaler, but the larger wholesale building near the water sells the same goods consistently cheaper — use it from day one. Setting up a delivery contract costs $1,000 plus a fixed $1,000 fee per delivery whether it is one box or the maximum of 20, so always max out the truck. Furniture stores like Aika can deliver equipment too, but only one pallet can wait outside your business at a time — unload before the next truck arrives or the delivery is cancelled.

Build your HQ only after three profitable stores

Headquarters plus a warehouse unlock the mid game: HR handles training automatically, purchasing agents get bulk import discounts, and logistics managers deliver stock without you driving anywhere. But offices, expensive pallet shelves ($3,000 each) and three specialized employee types generate no direct profit. Veterans recommend waiting until at least three businesses are profitable before committing — too early and the fixed costs kill your expansion.

Use loans aggressively

At release, loan interest is calculated on the initial amount borrowed, not your remaining balance — a $40,000 loan generates the same daily interest whether you owe $40K or $10K. Two workarounds: set payments to zero and clear it in one lump sum, or take several smaller loans and pay them off one by one. Loans are cheap, low-risk leverage in this game, so borrow the maximum and put every dollar into growing your bottom line.

Keep your character happy

Happiness decides how well you manage employees — some staff demand a peaceful work environment, which you can only provide while in a good mood. Play video games at home, watch TV, walk in the park, sleep on a bench or visit the casino. Neglect yourself and you will slide into sadness states where your employees make extra demands or quit.

Pick businesses by demand, not by type

"What business should I open?" always depends on what is in demand, which buildings are available, and foot traffic. A proven weekly routine: on Monday, check all districts for products at 80%+ demand with no or minimal competition, then buy the location, order furniture and hire ten staff in a single day. Review on Sunday — a healthy traffic graph looks like a V, dipping mid-week and peaking on the weekend. Focus on in-demand products, large buildings and good foot traffic, and almost any business becomes profitable.

Park spare cash at the second bank

The tutorial points you to Jensen Capital, but the second bank offers better investments. The Asia Dynamic Industry fund ranges from -2% to +10% and averages around an 8% return. Keep roughly $1 million liquid for opportunities and invest the rest every week.

Casino and taxis, carefully

With a net worth over $10 million, the casino boat (Friday nights, $5,000 ticket) can raise happiness and money — veterans use a doubling blackjack method, but warn you must be able to keep doubling or you lose everything. And once you can afford it, stop driving entirely: taxis save enormous real-life time compared to parking simulator hell, unless you are chasing a speedrun achievement.
